Anyone who’s ever visited our shop located in the heart of Hespeler can gather pretty quickly that we’re a company who believes in community. Whether it’s the Hespeler Reunion or a local music event, you’re sure to see our owner Josh’s face pop up in the mix.

Golf Winning For Non ProfitOn any given day, you’ll see us grabbing a beer at The Brownstone, or down at the local bike shop, The Hub, talking small motors. Even though we joke around a lot, our staff are almost all Cambridge natives who live here, eat here, and shop here, actively giving back in every way we can to support a strong local community.

One important way we give back is by helping local charities. Especially in the busy season when we’ve got a line of lawn mowers blocking our path to the bathroom, making time to give back can fall off our to-do lists: but a little can go a long way. One easy thing we do is post events and campaigns through our social media. One quote we live by is, “no one can do everything but everyone can do something.” Though our following is small, our network is really engaged. Some smart scientists found that people are more likely to donate if someone they know asks them. When we deliver furniture to a warehouse for Syrian refugee families, or sponsor a local Christmas program like The Shoebox Project and we talk about it, it might be that nudge to get someone thinking about how they can give back, too.

When we’re not fine tuning snow blowers and chain saws, we’re spending time with our families-- so we’ve got a soft spot for charities that help local kids.  Our next big event is helping Kids Can Play Association of Cambridge, a non-profit who covers enrollment fees for kids in Cambridge & North Dumfries to attend any kind of arts, sport, or music related program they want.  Their mission is to support children’s mental and physical health, and they believe it’s unacceptable for money to be a barrier for kids to accessing local programs. We wholly agree! Don’t you?

As a result of a recently cancelled grant, Kids Can Play is in need of some help. Their upcoming golf tournament, Golf the Gap, is YOUR chance to donate, sponsor a hole, golf, eat, and get them to their $25,000 goal. 100% of the money raised stays in the community. Here’s all the info you need:

Where: Grand Valley Golf Course, 1910 Roseville Road
When: Wednesday August 24 2016 at 1:00 PM
Entry fee: $100 per golfer, $25 per meal (includes meat hot buffet). Kids under 12 only $12.50

Need more details or contact information? Here’s the event flyer.

An important way to teach our kids the value of community building, and to be charity-aware, is to get them involved in events like Golf the Gap. We’ll be there with ours, manning the BBQ: stop by, say hi, and bring your wallet with you. Make it a family day!

Your small contribution can help someone’s son or daughter play their first game of hockey, or experience their first art lesson. Thanks in advance for making the time to help us make a difference, and spreading the word!
